Manchester United’s undefeated streak in the Premier League continued yesterday afternoon with a convincing 3-0 demolition of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, cementing them in an impressive third place in the Premier League’s away table.
It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Jose Mourinho’s side, with the home outfit arguably starting the strongest. But as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s stunning opener quickly lead into Seb Larsson’s sending off and Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s fourth Premier League goal just after half-time, it became apparent that there would only be one winner on Wearside. Marcus Rashford then heaped on the misery after entering the fray from the bench, making it 3-0.
Regardless of Sunderland’s status as the Premier League’s rock-bottom side, it was a convincing and dominant display from the Red Devils. So earlier today, we asked United fans to vote for their Man of the Match in our exclusive poll – and there was one clear winner.
Indeed, Ibrahimovic lapped up almost half the vote with 49% and unsurprisingly so. In addition to starting the scoring, he set up Rashford late on for the England international’s first goal in the Premier League since September. The Swedish striker may be 35 years of age, but his quality is showing no signs of relenting.
