Tottenham have received a boost in the transfer market as Lyon’s president has stated Tanguy Ndombele could be sold, speaking to Le Progres via Football.London.
What’s the word?
Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham have not quite hit the heights of their previous campaigns so far this season and the club are preparing for major changes in the coming months, which includes their delayed stadium switch.
Spurs are in the hunt for new additions in January after failing to sign a single player in the summer and midfield is a priority as the club prepares for the inevitable departure of Mousa Dembele when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Lyon starlet Tanguy Ndombele has emerged as a top-target and Spurs have received a boost in the chase for his services as the French club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted the 21-year-old could be sold when speaking to Le Progres via Football.London.
What was said?
“Financially, we have the best results in France. That guarantees certain things, but it does not guarantee that we will be able to keep Ndombele, Aouar and other players.”
Can a deal be done?
Jean-Michel Aulas has a reputation as being someone who is extremely difficult to negotiate with and while his comments open the door for Tottenham to make a move, a deal would still be extremely hard to get over the line.

Lyon will command the maximum possible price for Ndombele and the fact he made his France debut last week, then appearing again of the bench against Germany, will only increase his value – as will the interest of Manchester City.
It seems extremely unlikely that Spurs will be able to finance a move for the 21-year-old and Pochettino should now be eyeing alternative targets who can be seen as more realistic options.
