West Ham United Under-23s captain Moses Makasi landed in hot water on Wednesday night when he praised Everton striker Wayne Rooney for scoring a spectacular goal.
The former Manchester United captain stole the show as nabbed a hat-trick in a 4-0 victory over West Ham at Goodison Park.
The 32-year-old’s final strike of the night came from the halfway line, and is already being dubbed as the goal of the season.
According to the Daily Star, 22-year-old Makasi was so impressed with the display that he posted a Snapchat picture of a TV screen showing the game and wrote: “Wayne Rooney what a player.”
A goal of that nature is one to be appreciated by all football fans, but Makasi’s endorsement of Rooney did not sit well with the West Ham following.
After a screenshot of the Snapchat did the rounds on social media, Hammers supporters expressed their anger, which was made worse by the overall score.
