There was an initial shortlist of 10, that included Kevin Nolan, James Collins, Michail Antonio, Aaron Cresswell, Scott Parker, Lukasz Fabianski, Winston Reid and Declan Rice.

However, it is Mark Noble and Dimitri Payet who seem to be leading the way to get the accolade.
Payet may not have stuck around for too long, but he certainly made an impact in East London, playing 60 games across all competitions, in which he amassed 15 goals and 23 assists.
There is also the emotional connection that can be taken into account, as he gave so many incredible memories during the final campaign at Upton Park.
Those include his free-kick in the FA Cup against Manchester United and the two assists that he provided during the final game at the Boleyn Ground
This ensures that despite the Frenchman’s unceremonious exit, he is firmly in the fans’ thinking for this competition.
However, there is also the feeling that Noble should be the man to take the award, due to what he has given the club and the longevity he has had there.
He has been a regular throughout the entire decade, starting no fewer than 26 games in a league season across that period.

The 32-year-old is Mr West Ham and has been there for everything, with the most notable example of how synonymous he has become with the club being that he was captain of the final game at Upton Park.
